andy_uk15@hotmail.com 70 Posted July 18, 2012 (edited) I ripped this thread off another forum post, I after I posted I thought it belonged in here.... But I think the reason for this is that I just don't play on the night servers anymore like I used to. Night servers have nothing but bandits with NVGs running around. If I don't have NVGs, it's just plain stupid to go get killed at one of those servers... The coast near elektro hills is often littered with corpses of new players, who thought they could actually equip their flashlights during the night and live for more than a few minutes doing that. And even when I have the NVGs... Why play on a server where everyone can see each other with the NVGs just fine, everyone just has the green hue to their screen? The same visibility can be achieved on the day time servers, but in full color! :DYeah you make a good point there... I much prefer players using chem lights, flares, torches, and even moonlight to see at night. The darkness looses its charm...it looses its ability to instil fear when people have night vision goggles. I think they should be power hungry devices that take lithium batteries and are MUCH RARER than the stander AA batteries that power flash lights and such. I'd also like to see the inclusion of headlamps in the game, so you can look and shoot in the darkness. They would go in your tool belt, and pressing L turns them on like a torch - where ever you move your head - the light will shine. In a game called S.T.A.L.K.E.R, although there were night vision goggles in the game... somewhere; I didn't want to use them. Simply due to the fact that I loved the horror, the strange sounds at night - growling, bushes rustling and not having a f**king clue as to what may or may not jump out at me. Truly terrifying game - I loved it :D Edited July 18, 2012 by ScramUK
Zeromentor 169 Posted July 18, 2012 I have seen 3 NVGs in this game. 2 were on what I think was a duper, and 1 was on a clanmember of a bus I fired on. The first one disappeared when I hid the body so the rest of the clan couldn't reclaim the loser's gear, and other 2 disappeared with the rest of the duper's gear when I switched servers.Outside of that, I have been killed by 2 people who might have had NVGs. And I play a lot of night servers (I don't leave just because it is dark). I assume that because the first one killed me without moonlight, and so the surrounding area was pitch black, and he used only two rounds. The second killed me just after I hid his mate's body, 1 round to my face in the middle of the night when I was getting up from behind a downed tree. Neither times did either shooter have the ability to trace me via movement, lights or muzzle flash. So yeah, that's in over 1 month of play. I don't know why so many people think everyone on night servers have NVGs. They are freaking rare, extremely so, outside of dupers and duping clans, and the chances of running into one of those on over 1300 servers is rarer than anyone thinks. The only things I've seen less of than NVGs are SVDs with camo and L85s with Thermal. I've seen tons of SVD magazines, and even know the location of some random guys camp with 7 in his tent. (BTW random guy, thanks for the FN Fal! I left you 10 bandages)
andy_uk15@hotmail.com 70 Posted July 18, 2012 (edited) Server hoppers can acquire loot rather quickly.Even rarities such as NVG Edited July 18, 2012 by ScramUK
Zeromentor 169 Posted July 18, 2012 Server hoppers can acquire loot rather quickly.Even rarities such as NVGServer hopping is an exploit, and that doesn't do much to negate the fact that NVGs are extremely rare. That'd be like arguing that all guns should insta-kill if the bullet hits you anywhere at any distance and should be homing because people can ALT+F4 and disconnect before lower-damage guns can kill them.Stupid argument is stupid. Instead, hope the devs are working to fix this. And remember, server-hopping comes with other dangers, like spawning on someone in the same building, or into the awaiting arms of a server-hopper camper (The kind of people that wait for server hopper's and thier gear, intending to kill them for the potential loot without doing the work themselves). starwarsfan@gmx.de 450 Posted July 18, 2012 I don't see that many NVGs either and I prefer playing in the dark, has a somewhat cooler atmosphere to it. I also run around with my flashlight all the time and don't get killed for it either.
