Newly founded server; a few questions

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone:

I, and a few others have recently acquired a server. We have multiple questions.

I've noticed many servers have options such as global text chat, map waypoints, and custom options. I could not find anything relating to these in the server files and was wondering what custom options are shunned upon and what custom options show leniency.?

Also, an autokicker that kicks high-pinged users would be nice as well, can we use this specific option? I have noticed many servers use this.

What is okay, and what is not? The 'rules' are a bit misinforming and seemingly unenforced.

I would like some clarification please.

Thank you and please excuse the unorganized text.

Global channel - Everyone on server will hear you (Removed in DayZ version 1.7.1)

Side channel - Everyone in your side will hear you (Removed in DayZ version 1.7.1)

Command channel - Only group commanders can hear you (Removed in DayZ version 1.7.1)

That answers one of ur questions :D

You can modify the battleye config for high-ping kicking.

As for waypoints, etc I've never seen them enabled and don't believe it's allowed.

For the waypoint, there are no maps when you spawn in until you can find one.

Alrighty, for the waypoints. Have you ever played on a server where you press M and you can see a blue dot indicating where your location is? That's what i'm referring to. Does that come with a specific difficulty or what?

This is on "Recruit" and "Regular" servers that are using vanilla server configurations.

As soon as you switch to Veteran or higher, this is removed.

Additionally, on servers where maps are enabled and you can see character positions - be careful as to how you use map markers. If you mark the map while being in the Group channel, everyone on the server should be able to see that map marker. At least that's what my experience was when we first set up our server.
