Help installing retail

Recommended Posts

I've looked at countless guides including the official on how to install the Day Z on the retail version but all of them include using Steam in some way... which I refuse to do because it's not required as far as I know. I'm asking for step by step help on how to install Arma 2 and OA followed by Day Z without the use of Steam in any way shape form or mention.

Here are the current steps I've taken:

1. Install ARMA 2

2. Install ARMA 2: OA

3. Patch ARMA 2

4. Patch ARMA 2: OA

5. Launched both games once

6. Downloaded and properly placed Day Z mod files

7. Downloaded ARMA 2 Launcher and launched with correct settings

8. No working Mod...

When installing ARMA 2 and OA, I let the installer do it's own thing with placement because it's never failed me once with past games. So, I currently have an ARMA 2 and OA directory on my desktop as well as ARMA 2 and OA combined directories under C>Program Files>B.I>ARMA 2.

...wtf is going on? I'm getting incredibly frustrated with this and I believe I have the right to be since no one's "Non-Steam Version Guide" actually doesn't use Steam and screw up the order of things. I'd really rather not uninstall Arma 2, OA, and its patches since I did that last night for the 4th time to clean install and try again by reading and cross referencing guides for accurate information, however, if I have to, I will. I can easily just delete all the DayZ files and what not and start from a patched ARMA 2 and OA. Help me out, yeah?

Nevermind. Managed to fix it myself. Had to go tooth to nail to get it to work but I got it.
