Global Siren Sound (Every player hears it)

Idea:

Having a Siren like the one from Silent Hill play kinda like a triggered event, and the whole server hears the sound.

What it will do:

After you hear the Siren, all in game music stops for 30 mins and a random horde of Zombies chases after players that have been alive the longest in game forcing people to work together and create alliances against the Zombies rather than against Survivors...

It doesn't HAVE to be that, but I just thought that some incentive of making long living Survivors who just Loot MIL bases and have all the best stuff, should have some thing that forces them to be more aware than just bandits....

I mean hey... The idea itself might be shitty, but I think having a Siren that just creates a random Horde might be good?

We need to try and Cull down the amount of PVPing in game so that it's not just a random shoot em up game, but rather create random atmospheres that create uncertainty with the world that each player now lives in...

Well, that's just my 5 cents... The Idea could be tweaked, but I think the Siren of Silent Hill scares the shit out of most people....

So a scripted event where we know whats going to happen is "creating a random atmosphere"?

I mean, I do think that random scripted events would be a welcome addition. Such as the downed helicopters that have already been added. If they could fly into the map with not enough fuel to go far, then crash that would be pretty cool.

Everyone who saw it would make a mad dash to the area of the crash, players and zombies included. That I would love to see.

Sirens and a zombie horde that chases the longest living players for whatever reason... not so much.

True, but with the helis and Arma, when they fall out of the sky they just blow up, unless the Main rotor keeps spinning to give it a safe landing..... (Not sure how it would work)

But I am sure some thing could be done I guess...

I guess what I mean by the Siren, people know what it is, yes but the intense part would be not knowing if they are going to come and get you, or some one else, or what town or forrest they will come from kinda thing...

So the idea about chasing the longest living player may not be a viable option, but the uncertainty of where the zombies will come from was kind of more my point I guess...

This could be done without the siren, which in my opinion makes zero sense. We shouldn't be stealing stuff from other games to terrify us. We should have new and unique ways to be terrified. I never though seeing another person in a game could get my heart pumping so much, but this game does that for me. Besides the new zombie sounds (which are freaking awesome) nothing in this mod is creepy scary, or paranormal scary. Yet I'm terrified 95% of the time.

Yea, that's crazy.

on-topic, the siren idea followed by a horde of zeds aiming the day+x survivors.. I don't like this idea.

However, It would be crazy to add a hord of 300+ zeds ? walking around the server randomly, so players would have to stop and stay away from them and aware of them, leave cities when zeds comes in, stay quiet until the hord leaves..

Do not want to see this at all. If I wanted to fight with other players against a horde of zombie NPCs I'd go play L4D. The whole appeal of this game is that it DOESN'T force arbitrary, scripted events on people.

Players should not be penalised for being alive a long time that is utter rubbish, nor should players be penalised by the game for being a pvp'er their penlty for that is being shot once people cop who it is!

Heavily scripted predictable events would suck balls I think and would only take from the game.

I think the zombie horde idea isn't bad, make it a roving horde of loads of zombies (100-200) that moves randomly around the map, and impossible to take out without some sort of vehicle (helicopter miniguns anyone?). Have it comprised of loads of different zombie types, so after killing it you get food, water and ammo. Also have town zombies join the horde if it is under-strength, and then have it respawn after 36 hours if it is completely destroyed.

I like the idea of more random scenarios, just not this one.

What i would suggest according to your idea OP, is some other sort of soundcue or music change when a horde of zeds is roaming through Chernarus, and only the players closest to the horde will hear it. (Like zed screams in the distance etc.)

That way there is less time to prepare and could make some people panic.. in someway atleast.

You don't get the point :)

In L4D, you want to fight the hord and kill the shit out of them and enjoy it with your friends blabla..

Here, the hord would be real threat, something you want to avoid at all cost.

In L4D, you want to fight the hord and kill the shit out of them and enjoy it with your friends blabla..

Here, the hord would be real threat, something you want to avoid at all cost.

But that role is already filled by other players you randomly encounter, not a scripted event enforced on everyone in the server. It's a lot scarier since you have no idea when or where it will happen.

I like this. The part with the siren and spawning random huge horde of zombies. PvP is part of the freedom in this mod. But yeah, at random time a siren is heard all over the server and a massive zombie horde is spawned somewhere on the map(walking around to some coastal city. Random point on the map would just cause the horde walking around and nobody sees it). This would really give people something to think about when walking around.

With a big horde the biggest threat isnt other players anymore :)

I think An air raid siren is associated with a decent number of zombie apocalypse type movies so I can see it somehow being associated with the mod I'm not sure what kind of dynamic it would play out tho since this is mostly post apocalypse. Maybe have it as a useable item at the airfields that somehows draws in a horde or something.
