Disconnect after being shot solution?

Recommended Posts

Too many people disconnect after being shot, and their loot can't be taken. Is there a way that the mod can make it to where the disconnecting (shot) players loot (guns and everything else) drops from there body so it can be looted? Basically when that said player that disconnected and connects to another server, they will have absolutely nothing at all because it was dropped on the previous server where they were shot allowing the shooter to collect. If this were possible, i'm sure it would put an end or at least slow down the rate of pvp disconnecting.

Just wondering if this would be possible.

Wouldn't be realistic (obviously their bodies vanishing isn't either) and all their loot flying off them like diablo would probably cause massive server issues.

I think the simpliest solution would be to implement a countdown timer of 15 secs or even longer upion a disconnect. If a character wishes to camp out for the night, or is DC'd, or hits ALT-F4, regardless of how they exit the game there is a enforced timer that begins counting down and when it hits 0 then the character is exited out of the game. This poses no problems if the character is in a 'safe' location and is camping out for the night, it will only adversely affect those people that are exiting out to avoid death or being killed.

I think there should be a proper log out. If you don't log out properly (which should have a timer) and alt+f4, then you spawn down south with nothing again.

Athough this wouldn't be very fair if you d/c...

I suppose the countdown timer would be easier to implement then what i've suggested. But was just a suggestion, or question more less.

Unfortunately you can just kill arma2oa.exe from task manager, or turn the power to your computer off.

I think any time a disconect happens your character should remain for x seconds. No matter if you exit normally, ALT-F4 or pull the power plug out! I was thinking more like 60sec than 15, but I guess its a compromise. You want it to be fair if you loose connection in an unfortunate place. On the other hand in a stand off if you Alt F4 the attacker needs the time to approach and kill.

Some have sugested a counter that counts down giving you the chance to continue playing say if you get attacked. But with this if you are in a fire fight you could hid behind a tree and just try the count down and go back to fighting multiple times.

The other ideas about monitoring server hopping, whether you have been shot at etc just sound to complicated to implement properly.

Lol supafly, it doesnt matter how the player disconnected, if a meteor landed on their house and destroyed everything there would still be a 15 sec countdown occurring on the Dayz servers ..... pulling out your network cable etc doesnt matter how you are disconnected from the server, the SERVER will begin counting down.

Tis a good idea, players should log out all the time. The time taken to input user and pass, would stop a lot of it and could easily be added to a final game. No matter the scenario it could also stop it when you are repositioned on a map when you D/C (When leaving game and going back in i have been in an earlier location, losing anything aquired upto that point)

Personally, if you disconnect in battle you char should be instantly killed and lootable as any corpse. As long as there's a good indicator to show wether you are allowed to leave the game or not. No exceptions or excuses.

I know people would like a logout timer but didnt rocket try but failed to implement that a couple of patches ago? I mean if that works, fine as long as the timer is long enough. I mean if it was like 30sec then it would be fairly easy to just run into a building and then you are safe.

Well my suggestion was to make the shot players loot, bag, guns and all to be dropped at disconnect. The thing is, it would have to be set up to where it drops off their body. And it has to identify the fact that they were shot by another player and they are disconnecting. That's if they are dead or alive. If you bail on a fight, you forfeit the right to keep your gear.

I don't know if this would be possible or not but I have a different idea about the entire timer idea.

If you fire your weapon or take damage within the last minute or three(I prefer 3 but 1 is probably better) you cannot log out. If you disconnect within 60 seconds of the last time you attack or take damage, your character stays on the server for 60 seconds.

This would still cause issues for people with bad connection but not near as much as if there was always a timer.

I would assume that the issue would be with detecting and keeping track of every shot fired. I can't imagine that it would be very resource friendly and placing it client side would just lead to cheats being created to bypass it.

This thread is the perfect example of lowlifes in the Dayz community, here you might see the bandit plotting how to better kill fellow survivors, if you people don't want others to disconnect and want measures to be taken then I too suggest something. How about the server also determines whether or not the person being shot at is a new spawn, by a person who has a history of being a bandit, killing another player is not being a bandit. A BANDIT IS NOT A PSYCHOPATH. IT'S A PERSON WHO WANTS RESOURCES BY ANY MEANS POSSIBLE. If the server can see that the player being shot has no weapons or a backpack, the player should be allowed to disconnect, and the PSYCHOPATH (not a bandit) should be forever kicked off Dayz, because they were shooting for the hell of it, not for resources, but just to satisfy their bloodlust. It's because of these people that the community is going to shit. And the devs are losing money.
