Arma 2 Builds: RC or Beta?

As a server operator wanting to keep my server as up-to-date as possible, should I be running the latest Arma 2 beta build (beta build 95054 currently) or the latest release candidate build (RC2 build 95054 currently)? If I do run the RC2 build of 95054, will people installing the beta build of 95054 via the Arma 2 beta patch page still be able to play on my server, or will they too need to install the RC2 build?

The server is already running/requiring beta build 95054, and it seems to be fine, but I'm wondering if I'm missing out on anything by not running the RC2 build.

Thanks in advance for shedding any light on this.

You aren't missing out on much, although I would update if I wanted to play on my server. You can always downgrade if you have a favorite server that runs an older build. If you want to know what you're missing then read the patch notes on this page: http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php

Please re-read my post. I'm talking about the difference between RC2 95054 and beta 95054, not about the differences between beta 95054 and earlier beta builds.

If they were the same, they wouldn't be two separate downloads in two separate threads, with two different descriptions. They're absolutely not the same. One is a compatibility build for those wanting to continue to use the Beta rather than RC2. Thanks for attempting to help, anyway.

As you put it they are the same besides one does not offer backwards compatibility. Quote from Dwarden: "beta in Sync with 1.61 RC2 candidate for these who don't want install 1.61 RC2."

Again, I'm wondering if/why I should "want to install 1.61 RC2", and if so, will it be harder for players to connect to my server, since they're used to installing the beta builds on their clients, and the server naming scheme doesn't specify a difference between RC and beta builds, just the build number.

The staff answered my question with their latest update email: "...please ensure your servers are updated to Beta build 95054." It then went on to link to ARMA2_OA_Build_95054.zip , which is the beta build, not the RC build.
