I'd had this character for approx. 30 hours and had gathered many items to survive. Why did the server kill me ???

I think there are are some server sync/patch problems. Same happened here; tried another server and was fine (I guess you have to hope that your state isn't recorded by the "corrupt" server before you log off from it.)

It might of been a private server man. try another server.
