Stuff dissapearing on rejoin

So basically i just bought Arma 2 yesterday and started playing DayZ Today but if i leave a server and join another/the same i respawn with no items again at another place? Is there a way to fix this or can i never keep any items on me...

You may have joined a server with a private hive. Make sure you're joining a legit server and it should save your gear as long as you don't die or get bugged. xP

Also there is a slight delay in saving your position and stuff. Always wait a minuet after you have picked up something good before you log off. The amount of delay seems to vary from server to server and also time of day and numbers playing seems to have an effect.
