about to start first camp,would like some help.

Me and my friend are about to "try" to start a camp, starting with a simple tent and hopefully having an vehicle in a week.im wondering how to go about this,we have a tent and are trying to think of a place to put it. We were thinking about these areas:

would any of these be good?any other tips would be welcomed...

Tents are buggy right now and like to eat loot. Be wary!

Secondly, consider convenience vs secrecy. If you need to drop off loot or die, how easy is it to locate the camp? And if you can find it, what do you think the odds are of someone else stumbling into your settlement? All it takes is one person to find your loot to ruin your day.

Anyway, I found a few tents in the middle of absolute nowhere in a castle on a hilltop. Ofcourse it draws people seeing a towering stone settlement on the hilltop so that wouldn't be the best place :D

P.S. Either I did something wrong or the tents were empty :(

None of those places are particularly good, the ones by the coast are way too close to the coast, and right in the path of where any clever player will walk along the coast. The other ones are in common tent hiding places, especially the ones on the left, that is where I hunt for tents to rob. The best place, although inconvenient to get to, is the masses of forest to the north of the map. This is a long way to go on respawn and too fill your tents, but the only people who go there will be going to their own tents, so won't be looking around, or very dedicated tent hunters and there is so much forest there the chances of them stumbling across them are low.

by north do you mean middle of map area ,or closer to the northern border?

Close to the northern border, farther north than the northern airfields. There is nothing there, so you want get much through traffic.

Set it up in the woods, far from the coast so snipers won't detect you.

Don't stay at the place for too much, switch positions after 5-10 minutes.

Yer that mass of woodland north of that marker. Stick a tent there and you will be very unlikely to have to found/robbed. Also don't group all your tents together space them out a bit, that way if one camp is found you won't loose everything.

If you ever see tents set up in Electro or Cherno, AVOID THEM! They are typicaly set up by snipers to kill newbies as they come in to look at the tents. So be extremely careful!

ok, placed a tent in the north but i think its SLIGHTLY off map, is there a way to tell? should a pack it up and move a little more south to make sure?

I believe they clean up the tents outside the map? Perhaps even automatically these days.

Also, the very exact border of the map is obviously a bad place. Someone venturing a bit outside the map is likely to then start running at the edge of the map... Probably more traffic at the very edge than a little bit more into the actual map area.

Personally, I've had much more fun placing the tents in the cities. For example, I currently have one in elektro. (And at other undisclosed towns) :D

The elektro tent managed to stay completely unlooted for 3 - 4 days I think. Then someone found it and took some stuff outta it, such as the AK cobra and morphines. But still left plenty other random stuff there. (So, if I die, I know where to run first to stock up.)

Even the towns, especially others than elektro and cherno, there are places where people rarely check.. Mainly the buildings that cannot be entered (and all the pro players know those buildings cannot be entered already from far away). So they don't bother to check them out. Just gotta place the tent between some building like that and some other proper cover, and all good to go.

I really don't expect those city-tents to stay unlooted for very long, but then again, they are super fast to fill up with random stuff - when they are so close to the loot spawns. Sometimes being super sensible is not the most fun thing to do. Doing some silly stuff can be much more fun. ;)
