ArmA 2 OA has Stopped Working

Recommended Posts

Backstory: Steam was installed on a 100 gig HDD. I recently added a 2 TB internal HD to my rig. I wanted to install games to the new HDD, turns out, steam doesn't allow you to install to where you like, only to where steam is installed. I uninstalled steam, and reinstalled on the NEW HDD. Ever since I did this, i can not get DayZ to work.. I have never had an issue BEFORE i did this, but now, i have had one headache, after another in trying to get this mod working.

Currently, the error I am getting is "Arma 2 OA has stopped working" This generally happens at the loading screen (the one with the hangers and the tanks), when the loading bar is about 80-85% complete.

Things I have done so far: Uninstalled Arma 2 and Arma 2 OA, and reinstalled (twice)

Downpatched from beta 94997 to 94876

Used tutorials on manual install, and six updater install

All of these things get me to the same end result, the game crashes and i get the windows error message at around 80-85% on the load bar.

I have followed every guide available, my battleye is up to date, i've tried various different versions of the beta patcher, I've tried Six Updater, manual update, running as administrator, launching combined operations from steam and selecting a game through the multiplayer menu.. NONE of it works, and I am growing increasingly frustrated. I've scoured the forums and can't find anything different to try, so I come to you all humbled. Please, help me.

I have tried to take screenshots of the Arma 2 Load screen so you can see how far I get on the load bar before the game crashes, but for some reason whenever I hit my print screen button, and i paste it into paint, the image I get doesn't even show my game, it shows my desktop as if the game isn't even there.

Again, I've tried using the guides that are listed by the admins to get the game up and running, but nothing works... I will try anything at this point.

Edit: the Error message i get from windows is 100% vague. it doesn't give me any explanation as to why it crashed, it simply says that windows will tell me if it finds out why. (Tried to get a screenshot as proof, but it wouldn't even take a screenshot of the error message.. I am completely and utterly baffled at this point).

Edit 2: I have verified Integrity of Game Cache through steam, this doesn't help, as it caused a "Bad Serial Number" error to appear (which I have never seen before)

I have the exact same problem as well. This only started after i tried the latest beta patch two days ago. When that failed, i downgraded back to 94876 and that is when the crashes started .i re installed and went through he same steps that OP did, but i still crash at 80% loaded at the loading screen with the vehicles (after joining server). I installed using the six launcher.

Specs:

Windows 7 64 bit

(new) EVGA GTX 670

AMD Phenom X4 965 Processor (3.4 GHz)

Gigabyte 890GPA-UD3H Motherboard

May some awesome tech guru come to the rescue!

Well.. I tried Atlon's link's suggestions. I uninstalled the BattlEye from both directories, and then I tried to launch the game. was met with an error that said "Error Creating Direct3D 9 Graphical Engine". Currently tryin to validate files to repair the game, so that I can continue on with the steps. :(

Well.. ever since I followed those steps (even after reinstalling BattlEye), i can not even get the game to launch because I keep getting that error... Extremely fucking frustrated.

edit 2: After i fixed the above error, I continued on with the steps listed in that link, and THEY WORKED!

Thank you so much!

(it took almost an hour to get everything done, but it was totally worth it.. Now i don't want to go to work today!)

fix it with these steps: http://dayzmod.com/f...-desktop-fixed/

If anyone is having the same issue that I was having in the OP, try this thread that Atlon linked.. It is time consuming, but it worked for me (after 2 days of trying every other fix i could find online, and reinstalling twice).

Thanks again Atlon, You have my beans!
