Why is sniping other players in Day Z so rewarding?

Recommended Posts

This has definitely got to be the most rewarding game when it comes to killing other players, is it because you know in the back of your head that they have at least spent a few hours to make it up to the NWAF?

I guess maybe because its not an Arcade FPS and you dont get to shoot others often; the less you get to kill others the more exciting it is to kill someone every once in a while?

drop your opinions itt about why it feels so damn good to kill other players!

There is a game that feels more rewarding when you kill another player, Eve Online, because people can literally lose years of work.

But you're right, the reason is because both you and the person you kill or are killed by can often have so much to lose, this game makes our fight or flight kick in, and the only games that can do that are those that give you so much to lose.

It doesn't give me any pleasure killing people that aren't a threat to me however, I did enough of that shit in Eve.

I would prefer if any caliber bigger than a handgun was extremely rare/nonexistant. Nothing more intense than walking up on another survivor when you both have pistols and for half a second you both are like deer in the headlights. Not dissing snipers, it definately takes some skill to make those 300m shots when the target is full sprint, just think it would add a lot more tension if those high caliber rifles were the exception rather than the norm. But thats just my opinion =)

Personally, can't imagine why sniping is so rewarding, but in general this game seems far and away to have the most intense fire fights of any shooter I've played. I think if anything would be rewarding about sniping actually, it would be the reaction of 4 or 5 other people travelling in the group of the guy you just headshotted from 600+ meters away. That's possibly the scariest and most difficult situation to deal with in an every day pvp encounter and just instantly gets shit real. Having that kind of power as a sniper must be rather amazing when you come across the right scenario. Sniping poor bastards in Chern/Elec? Not so much.

They will make sniper rifles incredibly rare eventually i'm sure of it.

I just love the feeling when you see a group of player having some fun and then you just kill them all.

Love to play with the as50 or m107

my thoughts exactly! I think a good way to keep the guns in game for those who like them while also adding to their intrinsic value would be to severely reduce their ammo supply. That way your dmr will be a gun you only pull out when the right opportunity presents itself and there is a lot on the line.

i would slightly agree that snipers are too common, but ive played for 310 hours and ive only found 2x AS50, 3x M107, 2x SVD, 2x M24, like 10x CZ550s, and like 10x DMRs.. that sounds fairly common... i would only like to see the DMR be rarer... its too good for its availability... i prefer bolt action over DMR though purely for slightly better accuracy.
