Internet goes down when I play DayZ

Recommended Posts

So I play a lot of games and am on the internet a lot and have no problems. But as soon as I try loading into a DayZ server, my internet will go down and up repeatedly making it unplayable. How can I fix this because I really like this game and want to play :(

Thanks!

Do you mean that it psyically disconnects from the internet?

I get this as well, it happens every couple hours for about half an hour. Its not that the internet is slow or anything, it actually disconnects from whatever wireless im using and only happens with this game running which is strange. It just comes up in game that there is no connection and when I minimize it says im not connected to the internet at all.

Is this what happens to you?

I've noticed this too with my Comcast cable pipe. I can be pinging a site with no timeouts, great latency. As soon as I start server seraching in ArmaII my ping responses start dropping all over the place, with big bumps in latencey. Pages open in other monitors start timing out. Does seem to take down my internet in affect for unknown reasons.

I also get huge lag spikes that will disable my internet temporaly upon being around zombies followed by a kick from the server :( .

Yeah, I usually get in a game and then about 1 minute later I get kicked off for not having an internet connection. The internet goes down for everyone in the house and this happens everytime I try to get in a dayz game.

I registered to this forum to say I have the same problem. Usually happens right when I launch Arma II from six updater. I then have to reset the modem and router, but it will also disconnect periodically then reconnect during play.

I have comcast with a linksys WRT54GL router and RCA DHG536 modem.

Yep having the same problem. Seems since thursdays update.

Think it was the ARMA2 update but not sure.

Six updater seems to do it all.

Do any of you run the game through Steam? I seem to remember hearing something about Six Updater/Launcher causing horrible network issues. Not that I have the teeny tiniest idea why it would, but I mean, hey, worth lookin' into.

I have used with steam, without steam, new client, new computer, new internet/modem, with and without router, with six, without six, with dayz commander, and without just by using the arma II and going thru the filter.

It is just weird how it happens... its like ever since I started using DayZ and Six my internet has been shitty. But if I reboot and dont use it or open it at all, im fine.

I even unchecked the box in six launcher to turn that feature off to ping servers. idk what else to do...

I am also experiencing the same problem. I first tried launching the game through six updater, and the second it starts updating/loading the servers, the internet throughout my entire house goes down. Afterwards, I uninstalled dayz and manually reinstalled without using six updater. However, my internet still goes down when I launch dayz.

Where is the staff on this post? Seems like I am going to be forced to either uninstall the game entirely and stop hosting the dedicated server or keep bumping this and being a annoying pest because this needs to be resolved.

please help us guys.

Sorry, I'm having the same problems. Whenever I launch Day Z or anything related to it (six launcher, DayzCommander or anything like that), my net dies. Anyone have any idea on how I can go about fixing this?

Alright, I am bumping this since I also have the same problem. I use a cable connection, so technically speaking, it's suppose to be better than wireless connection. Now everytime I launch the Six Launcher, as it load up the server list, I would experience internet spike, then my skype would slowly die out and the whole house's internet get's either really laggy or completely unusuable due to disconnect. But as soon as the Six Launcher server list finishes pinging all servers, the internet is then back up once again.

I have a hypothesis that this has something to do with all the servers out there, and how the launcher eats the internet as it test and locate connection from your computer to all the servers. This might be able to fix if you only ping nearby/local servers.

But yes, this needs to be fixed ASAP.

I don't think it's a game-related problem.

It could be either:

1. Server can't handle the bandwidth, therefore kicking you

2. Day Z uses a lot of bandwidth, so your internet might think you're doing something fishy or just can't handle it, therefore kicking you.

When I choose a server and log into the game the whole internet for the house comes to a halt. It then works fine for other computers once I am loaded in but spikes will arrive as I play. I opened up ports 2302-2307 and that did not fix the issue.
