how can i get the steam overlay to work with DayZ?

ive been trying to get it to work but cant seem to find a guide or tutorial, does anyone here have it working?

Have you bought the game from steam or retail?

got it off of steam, installed with the six launcher

the overlay wont work if you run the mod through six updater, one suggestion is to manually add the modline into the steam launch options, if you right click on operation arrowhead>launch options> then in the box type "-mod=@dayz" etc, there are about 2 other things you need to add although im not sure which right now, someone else would help you. so for example if there were 3 mods needed to run dayz the launch options would read as follows - "-mod=@mod1;@mod2;@mod3" as far as i know, the dayz mod does not just run that mod folder on its own, CORRECT ME IF I AM WRONG PLEASE but i believe you may have to add a couple more. but try "-mod=@dayz" first and let me know if it works. ALSO dont forgot to right click on operation arrowhead and run COMBINED OPERATIONS instead of just double clicking on arrowhead, as that wont work. hope this helps

Try launching the Six Launcher with steam, as steam supports game launchers before putting up the overlay.
