ArmA 2 free+ Day-Z mod? Help me!

So I'm in a bit of a pickle here... I have not only ArmA 2 on Steam as the demo (free version) but also Op Arrowhead! I heard on another site that you could use the free versions of both of these on Steam and that Day-Z would still work-but I can't install it! I've looked at three tutorials so far, and they all say the same thing- you have to drag certain files from this site into your Arrowhead folder, but my ArrowHead folder can't open. Can anybody offer advice, or a different method of install?

I tell you a little secret. You dont need arma 2.

Instal your OA on steam. Instal full version of arma 2 (from .iso), and just copy the "addons" folder from arma2 to steam dir.

Works perfect by me.

p.s. you can also cope the addon folder from arma free - but then you will play on ultra low grafic.

and i sad - download via torrent full version, and just copy the folder.

If not - buy arma 2, or play free version on ulrtra low grafic settings.

Install arma free (demo)

Copy "addons" from "FREE" to "OA' = play.

What do you mean your arrowhead folder can't open?

1. Navigate to the following (C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead)

2. OPEN the Operation arrowhead folder (Double click it)

3. create a new folder named "@dayz" without the " "

4. INSIDE that @dayz folder make another folder named "addons" without the " "

5. UNRAR the files that you got from the download site and drag the files (in the rars) inside your addons folder (For each one)

6. Add the following launch parameters to Op arrowhead on steam (right click Op arrowhead, click properties, then click the set launch options button) "-mod=@dayz -nosplash" without the " "

7. Play.

PS: You have to have Arma 2 FREE and actually OWN Operation Arrowhead (you HAVE to BUY OP arrowhead)

Just a heads up - a couple of posts here may indicate piracy (I could be wrong, but this is a general comment anyway). We will have absolutely ZERO tolerance of people who indeed incite the use or means of getting a pirated version of the game. I'd like to think that the majority of this forum are mature enough to support BiS financially for creating a great base game to run our beloved DayZ mod on.

This is directed towards noone in particular, just a general heads up on the matter. Appreciate everyone's cooperation.

I absolutely have no intention of pirating Bohemia's game, as I'm strapped for cash now, and I plan to buy both games and expansions later this month-but I wish to simply use your lovely(no sarcasm) Day-Z mod with the free versions of both games, which I was told you could do on another site.

On Steam the ArmA 2 demo is labeled a "Free" version, and OA is a demo, so you're right. Anyway, I hear that you MUST buy the OA at least, or it will not work. So no pirating here.
