Where to start looting?

Recommended Posts

So after crawling around in a smaller village for 2 hours, only to find different ammo for pretty much every weapon but no actual weapons, and then breaking my legs (I had no morphine either) from crawling through a doorway, I'm wondering if maybe just running straight into one of the big towns and then try to get away fast is a better approach then playing in the grass for ages?

What do you pro people out there do when you start over again to quickly get some supplies and weapons?

Run like a moron into town, find a building to get rid of zombies.. Search Super markets, Hospital, Apartments/brick houses and Fire stations, once u have all the basic survival items you can get ready to go north... For the big guns.

Run through small town, looking for loot. If I see something I want I look for a good area to lose the zombies. (multiple high fences, couple buildings close together, trees, double entrance building, etc) After losing them I crouch walk back to the loot. I usually look for a hatchet first.

If I can't find anything in the first town I cross, I head inland looking for a barn.

Try to spawn near Cherno or Elektro and then look for weapons in the supermarket, school, military hospital, fire station and apartments.

Just like they say. Go to Cherno or Elektro or Bolota.

I like to go to Bolota...get some guns from the military base. Then go north of that and to the west a bit as there are three super markets along the way with tons of food, drinks, guns, ammo, backpacks. Then you have the barracks at the military base in the north that has the hardcore weaponry.

Then you're done the game.

Barns, barns and more barns till you have a gun and some ammo, barns have food too.

Then residential areas deer stands and supermarkets

Next a hospital

Finally military targets.

Or you can just gamble and go straight for the military ones. I like the Stary sobor gamble there is a supermarket there too.

Deer stands. Only 2 loot spots, but they're considered military buildings, so they can spawn almost anything you can find in a hangar/air control tower/fire station.

When spawn check in the right hand corner where you spawned at, it says what town/city, then quickly goes away.

Remember that and find it on here http://dayzdb.com/map

I suggest searching for a barn for anything, an axe is a good start, then go to a city and start looking for things. On the map there, it shows where valuables and non valuables are, look for other landmarks to check where you are on the map, and find those buildings! **Press Alt+Tab to minimize DayZ, and look on the map, then click on DayZ (its Icon looks like Arma 2) and you'll be back in game, DON'T ever check your map standing out in the open!**

Best of Luck, Remember, once you find something good, the boring part is over!

Always hungry for your beans! :DD

Pretty epic gaming session, finally found some weapons :)

Started out on a nighttime server just running randomly into the woods. Kept running for ages, until the thirst meter started blinking red. I started to search for a town, a house, anything so to not die from thirst. After probably 10-20 min of it blinking red, I found a soda :D Same thing happened with food. Blinking red, then just in time found a can. Also aquired a macarov in one of the small towns with a church. I then later on found a CZ500 sniper in a big farmhouse, however with no ammo. Eventually I found an enfield with ammo and replaced the CZ500 (tried putting it into my bag. The rifle disappeared o_O). Now I'm neither thirsty or hungry, though I have no spare cans. Will continue looting barns until I have an ample supply of cans and then maybe head south again into the cities :)

Luckily I have not ran into any other players. I think I heard what was a burst assault rifle round, but then again it might have been the birds singing :) Still, pretty nerve wrecking to hear someone with an AR when you all you have is a makarov with 2 half empty magasines.

I usually just try to spawn near cherno or elektro. Then I just run trought the small villages to the barns, get a hatchet or a gun. THen run to cherno and get medical supplies, go to the curch ( no one else mentioned that, easy place to find bigger backpacks and weapons ). Also visit the market and firestations.

I have spent a very long time going through basic houses, industrial complexes and barns - nothing worth mentioning at all. My first real find was a crossbow in what appeared to be a butcher shop in Pavlovo. I even had access to 4 bolts there, which was handy.

On a side note; people don't seem to loot zombie corpses - I have found a number of bandages and carbonated drinks this way.

DO NOT OVERLOOK IT.

Hope you have better looting luck than me!
