Performance slowly decreasing?

Recommended Posts

I recently installed this mod without any problems.

Running everything fine on very high @ 1920x1080, with textures/models/objects etc all on very high. Operation flashpoint also works fine.

Specs:

Intel Core i7 860 stock clocked 2.8GHz

GTX570 factory clocked @ 800/1600/2000 Mhz

8GB RAM, 1333MHz

However, after playing for 1-2 hours, the framerate gets progressively worse. Also the GPU fan is at a really high RPM most of the time playing. Simply restarting the game fixes this, but it's obviously a bit annoying. Lowering video settings doesn't seem to help much either.

I only have 30GB free on my C harddrive, could that be an issue?

Well first of all, if you want to have maximum performance get another hard drive or clean the one you have with CCleaner. Now this happens to me too. This is because the game uses mostly the CPU than the GPU. I don't think there is a fix other than restarting your computer. But 1-2 hours is little. Try cleaning your drive. Happens to me after about 4 hours of gameplay.

I have two harddrives, both 500GB. As of now 50-60GB free on both of them, should that not be enough?

I watched another video these forums about a guy using a program to use his RAM as a virtual harddrive (extreme write speeds compared to your harddrive), and then run DayZ through it and massively boost performance. Maybe something to look into :P

I use to do that and it works very well. Trick is having enough ram to do it and finding the right .pbo's to stick in there. Now that I have an SSD it's not even worth it anymore. But if you got the extra ram just sitting there doing nothing it's a nice tweak. A bit cumbersome to do and a cool little experiment to try out.

ETA: Here is the original thread that started it all. QWERTZ is a good guy and I use to play on his server all the time.

Here's how I got ARMA2 to perform smoothly using RAMDISK
