Falling after spawning...

First off, I understand this is an alpha mod. Second, i'm not upset that I lost my gear or died due this being an alpha mod. I am more curious so that I can try to minimize what it was that caused this if it is not a hacker.

Couple weeks ago I logged in near my tent where I had logged off, only to find myself at the top of the pine tree free falling like a pine cone. Hit the ground then death. Was pretty bummed as I had a nice little setup going.

The other day a buddy of mine logged in near his bike that he had found and found himself falling from above the treeline. Same thing, death... obviously, right?

Yesterday I logged in on my character of 14 days, and suddenly found myself falling from well above the treeline. Felt like I spawned 100ft in the air. Ground...dead.

Is there something happening before logging off that is causing us to spawn in the air? Or is this the work of a hacker? Or just a bug that affects random people at random times?
