idunc 62 Posted July 16, 2012 Right now I play DayZ on my brother's computer while I wait for my own gaming computer to arrive. I play on my own Steam account with my own Arma 2: CO. When I play on my own computer, again with my own Steam and my own Arma 2: CO, will my character from my brother's computer be there?
Thingyy 5 Posted July 16, 2012 Yes, because your character is bound to your CD key.

idunc 62 Posted July 16, 2012 Yes, because your character is bound to your CD key.I downloaded through Steam. My CD key will be the same on my brother's computer as it will be on my future computer?
Hugues (DayZ) 38 Posted July 16, 2012 Yes it will. Unless of course you download a new copy.
idunc 62 Posted July 16, 2012 Yes it will. Unless of course you download a new copy.I will be downloading a new copy, correct? Or when I download again through Steam, it will be the same copy, just on a different computer?
rangerpl 1 Posted July 16, 2012 (edited) As long as you are using the same steam account, you should have the same character. You only get one CD-key.Not that it matters anyway, it's likely that you'll get killed and lose your character before you get your new computer. Woodland Creature 9 Posted July 16, 2012 Your Arma 2 CD key is linked to the Steam account it was purchased with. Assuming you where using your own Steam account on the old computer, when you log into that Steam account on your new computer and download the Arma 2 stuff again the CD key that went with it will still be registered to the account, meaning you should still have your character. Do as one of the posted said above, after downloading both Steam and all the Arma 2 stuff, run both Arma 2 and Arma 2 OA before installing DayZ or it might not work. Hugues (DayZ) 38 Posted July 16, 2012 Each copy that you download has it's own unique CD Key. If you download a new copy, and play with that, you will have a new character. If you want to play with the character you have now, then just log onto the same Steam account you have now, and play. Even though you will be installing it on a new computer, it will be the same copy. To get a new copy you'd have to either get a new Steam account or buy a CD key online. So don't worry!

I play smart. I don't plan on dying anytime soon.
sturmfalkerda 5 Posted July 16, 2012 Its completely tied to your steam account, uninstall and reinstall and it will be the same, I have played Arma 2 OA a long time before finding out about DayZ.... Your character will be fine....
