I can't attack!

I literally just started and I can't attack anything. I stand there helplessly with no means to defend myself while zombies just claw me to death.

What can I do? I have no idea where there might be weapons but I know for sure that they will be surrounded by zombies.

Help?

You cant attack with bare fists you have to have a weapon. Try to crawl around when you see zombies it keeps your visiblity and sound low. Try to make your way into a town where you see big grey buildings like factories they have alright starting loot if you can locate a supermarket even better. I started recently but, know a little if you wanna team up or something hit me up.

Check out threads. SEARCH. You don't start with a weapon. Barns/Farms are good places for starter weapons. You can choose to explore on your own or use an external map such as dayzdb.com . Find a weapon first, gathering food/water/pop on the way. Make sure you learn to sneak properly. Infected aggro a lot more now than they used to so never sprint in a town unless you need to. Crouch running/walking is the best way to move around town while proning is the best for in-town situations.

Starting with nothing may seem crazy but it eliminates the starting area violence between newcomers. Eventually you'll figure out where the high yield barns are so you can get equipped quite fast.
