madzeds 3 Posted July 16, 2012 (edited) Have you ever shot someone non lethally only to have them disconnect?Have you ever seen a zombie crazy train run through Cherno following a looter only to see them disappear in a field, leaving 15+ zombies with nothing better to do but meander through a field? My suggestion doesn't fix loot cycling, server hopping (in a broad sense), or a slew of other imperfection in this alpha, but I do believe it would be possible and beneficial. What I suggest has been suggested before as well, although it may not have been worded as such. It exists in countless other games but is lacking for some reason in our persistant sandbox zombie survival game. It is a combat system.Defined in this post as an API or parameter that would tell the client and host whether or not zombies were actively attacking or running at you (not just "investigating a noise",) and whether you had shot or been shot by another player. Said parameter would trigger a state (true or false) which would affect your ability to log out of the game. Now to be fair and to add to the basic implementation of such a system, being shot at may not trigger such a combat state (I.E. you would actaully have to be shot.) This would stop, what may be an overzealous attempt to implement this, bugging anyone in a .5 km area of any gunshot from logging out unfairly. Lets start small.I remember the first time I realized that logging out could save yor life. It was long before we started with no sidearm, long before we reached 100,000 player (yeah, I realize I haven't been active on these forums,) long before it was even a big issue. I was running from a fleet of inescapable, un-aggroable zeds when my computer crashed. I had a bit of kit and a primary but was running out of town so I wouldn't ring the dinner with my enfield when my pc crashed. I frantically rebooted and logged back into dayz with hopes that I may be able to find my half eaten corpse and re-loot what I had scavenged. I loaded in only to find that I was still alive. I wasn't even bleeding. Simply confused I trotted on, not knowing that players all over where using this as a way to escape any and all danger they where confronted with. How hard could this be in a simulator which can do so many things... Combat=1 or combat= 0. Maybe I'm way off base here but this game seems to be able to tell zombies when to attack you, it is able to tell you when you are bleeding due to a gun shot. Is it not feasible that it could then stop you from logging off if one of those things has happened?TL;DR: WTF, Why can I alt+F4 out of anything. Fixing it seems simple. What roadblocks are developers facing in making this into a VERY basic fix immediately? Edited July 16, 2012 by MadZ
paradox. 12 Posted July 16, 2012 I totally agree. But rocket has allready said that he has nearly fixed alot of this and is introducing a system like this.
0only1 4 Posted July 16, 2012 You mean like lineage 2 ? "you can't log out while in combat"
0only1 4 Posted July 16, 2012 Or like in nfsp when police was chasing you, you couldn't exit the game until lose them first.
