Is there anyway I can create a new character and not lose all my stuff on my current character? I have a few friends that recently picked up this game and I really want to play with them on a fresh character, but I don't want to suicide and lose all the stuff I got on my current account.

You'll have to buy another ArmA if you want a new character. Just be a man and restart, I guarantee you'll find the same if not better loot on your next playthrough with your buds.

you would be more of an asset to your friends who are just joining, if you keep your current gear and not start fresh anyway.
