Mic not working

So basically I have tried to get my mic working on Dayz. It doesnt work on Arma 2 tought. So it just doesnt show the icon on my screen that I should be talking now. People dont hear me, if any of you have had this problem and have fixed it. Please tell me how to fix this since chat doesnt work on most servers. It would be really nice!

Hey, I had this exact problem..

It was a very easy fix.

First thing you need to do is go into your recording devices on your computer, You need to make sure your microphone is set to your default device, and default communication device, How you do this is simple.

Right click on your mic, and the options should appear for you on the menu.

This is how I fixed my problem..

Also make sure your in-game push to talk button is set correctly, by default it should be Caps lock.. but you might need to change it.

First, are you pressing caps lock to talk? Are you in the proper channel? What operating system are you using?

I have set the mic correctly in windows ( Im using Windows 7 Ultimate ). Ya the mic doesnt work on Arma 2 either, I tried to make sure. What you mean by proper channel?

Does it work on other programs like skype, mumble or teamspeak? Have you switched to a separate soundcard recently? Most servers also have global communication off so to test this make sure its set to direct communication and someone is atleast within 80 meters of you.

Make sure your microphone is set on steam too.

I fixed my mic that way for this game. I had it turned off, since another game didn't want to turn my mic off from inside the game.

Microphone works on steam,skype,mumble,TS3 every possible chat system you can possibly dream about. But yah, ARma 2 is the expection.

Oh btw, I still have my creative soundcard drivers on my computer :o

I play DayZ all the time, and my mic works well but as soon as i go to normal arma 2 my mic dosent work at all! it says i am speaking but no one can hear me plsss help me! i hate typeing in combat, and watching ppl die cause i couldn't type fast enough

Ive got this problem too... mic works on skype but not on arma 2... ive got a funny feeling it might be something to to with windows giving complete control of the mic to another program or something but that is just a wild stab in the dark lol

I had this problem as well, solved it by running arma2oa.exe as administrator, and by deselecting the mic in control panel and choosing another device, then resetting the mic as default recording device.
