Why do i have 2 different characters.

So last night i was playing on one server. I logged out near Balota to join my friends on another server and lost everything and started on the coast. So from there i just started looting and got some gear to start with. I logged out in the grocery store and went to another server and was my old character again in my old location near Balota. Now any time I join a server I'm either the character in the grocery store or my other character near Balota. Anyone else having this issue?

Is one of the characters tied to a specific server? If so it's most likely a private server that has it's own character pool.

Nope. Just certain servers are one character while others are the other character. They are all public servers.

If you die with this new character, you should end up with the old character. Worked for me!

so die with the one that I shouldn't have spawned with and i'll just come back as my other one?
