wok 25 Posted July 15, 2012 (edited) Yesterday I almost accomplished my survival plan, had tent, weapons, knife, medical supplies, matches, food, water bottles and other items, but a guy shoot me in the head while I was looking for the last iteam I wanted before going to into the wild to camp, the hatchet. So I didn't had a chance to place the tent and create my "camp".I would like to know:1) When I place a tent, what happen with the tent (and the stuff inside) when I log out the game, and what happen when I die? I mean can my new character go find the previous char tent?2) If I drop items, let's say I drop some stuff next to my tent in the middle of the mountain, will the items be there when I come back? Or what's the deal with dropped items, how much time they remain until they disappear (if they do)? Edited July 15, 2012 by sebastian.w
[email protected] 10 Posted July 15, 2012 you can store items in your tent. just remember to hit "save old camping tent" before you log out. however, whe did this last night. logged out and as i logged in today our item where lost. the tents where still there, our jeep to. so i guess it was not lootet. Flacidman 5 Posted July 15, 2012 (edited) Tents are kinda buggy atm. Its best to keep anything you wanna keep on yourself. Normaly tents will save whatever you put in there, and it will still be in there (on that server only). I've read that there is an issue with using the "Save tent" option that will cause the tent to not save properly.Tents supposidly last 6 days after death. Only you can repack the tent, if you havent died, but anyone can access the tent and use the save option. So it may be possible to keep the tent alive longer after death by re-saving it.You can drop items on the ground, but there is a time limit to how long droped items stick around. Something like 30 mins or an hour. Its pretty common for items to "glitch" under the ground when you drop them on a slope or in certain areas. They will definatly be gone if the server restarts. If you want to experiment with tents anyway, there probably a few rules to follow, to increase your luck with tents/other storage:1.Always use the save option from the interaction menu everytime you touch the tent. (This might be bugged, but you can experiment saving/non-saving) This is an alpha test, try different things and report back to the forums if you find anything interesting that works for you.2. Always log back in on the same server, if you can help it.3.Try not to go too long without logging into your selected server.4. Use the search funtion on this forum to find out what other player have to say about using tents.5. Check out the wiki for basic info like this before posting (http://dayzwiki.com/) (http://dayzwiki.com/....php?title=Tent)-You can edit the wiki youself if you find out of date/wrong/missing info. [email protected] 10 Posted July 15, 2012 i did this yesterday and as i login this day all the items in the tents are gone. weapons, med stuff everything. i doubt that a player took it cause the car is still there. and it was too much to carry for 1 player even for two. i also saved the tents before logging out.as i think about it. my friend did set up the tents. and i saved them. does it work or does he have to save them?
