is my 2nd guy a "survivor"?

Recommended Posts

Hey,

I got tired of having to shoot on sight (because of "tier 1 gear") and having to avoid cherno/elektro (to avoid cod players with the enfield on the towers) so i bought a new account.

With this new account i decided id stay coastal and just pick up group with anyone in the TS servers. So far ive managed to get 7 players from having nothign to having bigger backpacks/meds and military weapons. What ive been doing is i will hang around elektro/balota, usually have 1 or 2 people with me, we will raid the huts/airfield, then head to the apartments/hospital to get meds. Once ive met people and they have joined using direct chat.

when we have seen players, if at the airfield and they have nothing we just tell them to clear off, if they have a gun we would shoot on sight (or learn the hard way AGAIN). but when we get to the hospital area I saw someone just run into the apartment closest too us, so i ran down to it (they were waiting in treeline) and asked the guy if he was friendly/wanted meds on direct chat, he said friendly but didnt want to join us so he agreed to stay in the apartments i warned him e.t.c., anyway we looted the other 3, filled ourselves with meds from the hospital then cleared out/logged out. Was funny cause the guy in the apartment kept on asking if we had left yet haha.

Anyway would you carebears say that the KOS at the airfield is wrong or justified for survivor behaviour? Im having more fun helping people and not caring if i die (havent died doing this YET) than i do solo on my tier 1 character, but missions with group members is more fun on my tier1 guy lol. next time i recon we might try cherno shops or zelogorsk.

As far as airfields go, it's a situational decision, unarmed people may just happen on an AKM/M16 etc and then double around to kill you in return for being kind. Might even be a fresh spawned bandit getting geared up to camp a city or the airfield itself.

Generally armed survivors are considered bandits by me personally, just because of the many situations were i've trusted and been stabbed in the back at the airfields.

Thus Airfields are KOS for me, just can't take the chance of being killed.

Unless they don't see me, then i'll give them the old clear out or be shot warning at gunpoint from behind.

Just shoot on sight if they have a weapon, because chances are they'll shoot you if they see you carrying something they like, want, or need. If they have are unarmed, let them pass. The goal of this game is survival. Do whatever you have to do to achieve that goal. If you have the drop on someone, give them a warning, but as soon as they get themselves into a position to engage you, forget warning them and go for the throat.

I lost the "survivor" mentality a longggggggggg time ago, so my opinion may vary. I can't tell you how many times in my early days that I had asked someone if they were friendly, just to be greeted with a rifle round in the mouth.

But this is where the problem comes from in the first place, less than a quarter of players are bandits but a lot of people get trigger happy when they assume the other survivor is a bandit, even if they have no evidence.

wanted to chime in on this.

where do you draw the line then? people should/need to be armed within reason. the game still has bugs where youll aggro a zed even though youre doing everything right, and you need to defend yourself from that.

and like the other poster said, what if i happen on an assault rifle? do i pass it up out of fear ill be gunned down for it?

i try to play altruistically and only engage when being fired upon. sure, this heightens the risk of dying, but it makes the game so much more thrilling. plus, you get to meet some great people this way.

cheers.

Sadly it is just from my experiences, many times i have been in the Balota Airstrip/Military Camp and gunned down without warning.

Once i have had the "I'm friendly" and trusted them to be shot, only had a hatchet as well. Also been in the let them go and later while looting been shot in the back by the same person flanking me once finding a weapon.

Thus i KOS at airstrips. to high traffic and to risky for me to be nice. Part of the problem but the servers i play seem to have more bandits than not.

multiple arma2 AO keys allow you to have more characters. switch them on command.
