backpack in tent question

A tent can hold a fixed amount of each item-type, within the item-type each item counts as one (unlike in the Inventory system). A tent can hold up to five backpacks, ten weapons & tools and fifty general items. For example one tent can hold five binoculars, five M4A1s, fourty STANAG mags, ten engine parts and five backpacks at the same time. If you place a filled backpack into the tent, the contents of the backpack will remain.

My question is.. If you place a filled backpack in the tent will the items in the pack take up regular items spacing in the tent?

My experience, if you put a full backpack into a tent, the items in it persist until you logout. After you log in again, you only get an empty backpack back.

Tried with both a full an empty tent, with no backpack in there and with another of same type in there. Not 100% sure, but highly confident it's logging out that wipes it. So fine for temporary storage, not for increasing tent storage space.

I tired this in a car, dont do it. it wiped everything in the car not sure if it does the same to a tent

All items in a backpack in a tent are there until a server restart.

Well, I accidentally left my gun in my backpack when I put it in the tent. i saved the tent not knowing. Whatever the case. I left it alone.. i will repost my results when the server restarts

Yea, I left some items in a backpack inside the tent. It was fine for a couple days, and then the server restarted and I lost a pistol and a rifle. So yea, when you log out, keep your most valued items on yourself, your second most valued items in the tent (it will save and remain even after a restart), and only the things you have no fear of losing inside the backpacks in the tent.

Ok.. I logged in off of server restart. been going for a couple hours now. I checked tent1 where I was able to unpack basically inside a tree :). All the belongings were gone and It duplicated 2 times so Now I have 3 tents in that location total and They are all empty.

Tent site 2. The tent was NOT in a tree and duplicated once where each tent has ZERO items in it.

WTH?

Another question. in times past i would pack the tents up and move them and more tents would spawn in the exact same location. Does me no good if they spawn empty.
