interactive gear (such as the watch)

now before i start as u may already know, i havent played this mod yet so im not 100% sure so im only basing this off of what ive seen...

as a suggestion for later on in the mod if its not already going to be added i would like to see more animations for specific actions. such as raising your arm to look at your watch, maybe even a real map that u hold up? at least for other players so they know your looking at a map lol. stuff like that would be cool to see later on in beta and such. (just like farcry 2 cept better, placing your gps on vehicles would be sooo cool to do lol)

I strongly suggest playing Arma II before playing the DayZ mod. There are tutorials there about many aspects including the use of maps and the equipment. You'll see that your concerns have already been addressed in an excellent manner.

characters already drop to a knee when they look at a map. It'd be pretty silly to have the character doing nothing but looking at a watch when the watch is on screen though - you can do plenty of other things in-game while looking at your watch.

Agree with swissarmy. Play the game before you make suggestions... Espescially if theyre purely whimsical visual additions and nothing to do with actual gameplay

im at a disadvantage because i haven't played arma 2 but from watching videos i can say that from what ive seen its just a pop up display instead of lets say, a real watch on your arm. and about the map, i think it should be tweaked so that instead of crouching down, your player is holding a map in his hands. just my preference. for those who played FarCry 2 you probably know what im talking about. (ive also seen a arma mod where the character moves his wrist to his face and is looking at a watch)

but i guess this game play style does have disadvantages like only being able to look at your watch and nothing else while looking at it, so i guess this would be more appealing to a role playing kind of style. mainly my concern is in first person view, from what ive seen, the animations could be better in the future.

firstly, the mod probably can't access this to change it

secondly, it wouldnt actually change the gameplay at all. It'd probably result in less immersion because you wouldnt be able to do anything else while keeping an eye on your watch.

Animations in first person are very difficult to improve because theyre the same as third person. You use the same model for everything, as opposed to other games where you have a separate first person model. It complicates things a lot, but it doesn't have any negative impact on gameplay, so it shouldn't be considered a priority.

I don't know why i was down-voted for that post. Some people are retarded.

i guess this just comes down to a gameplay style preference, because to me having an actual watch (and other items) that you use has more immersion instead of something that feels like its just part of the HUD. but i do agree that something like this shouldnt take priority at all, its just something cool that i would like to see in the future.

also, sorry to hear about you getting -rep, i dont mean for this, nor want it to be a controversial thread subject. ~_~
