Cicero 2 Posted July 16, 2012 (edited) i found a car in a hill which was a sweet find today and drove around saw 2 survivors one alt+f4'd the other was like can i get a ride so i was like he has a torch why not hes only new. So i drive to cherno well didnt make it there car had no fuel which was a shame to say the least. i had a ak-74 from a deer stand i looted so i was well armed and i said we should split ways and that i didnt wanna have to babsit him into cherno. so i walk off and what do i find but him following me i go to inventory for a second to eat and i turn around to him with a hatchet magically on his back. He pulls it on me so i put half a clip into him for good measure first real time ive had a person to person encounter of the close kinda and well........ I LOVED IT Edited July 16, 2012 by Cicero
Kellanved 5 Posted July 16, 2012 I only play on veteran servers because of the ease of sniping on recruit, I've been playing about a month now and had all of the experiences mentioned above. Some players are friendly and me and the guys I play with have had some good times with randoms, some shoot onsite and some are douchebags who shout 'friendly' and then axe you in the head.Lol, some guy came running up behind me and a friend I was babysitting last night, he didn't announce himself just came running up to us and stood there; so I emptied a magazine into him, better safe than sorry. These days I have a strong camp in the north and spend my time raiding places like the NW airfield, Berezino and Stary Sobor. It all seems to go down at the military camps, although NV googles only seem to spawn at the NW airfield and heli crash sites. Berezino seems to be a nightmare these days on most servers, the military camp is over-looked by some residential buildings so every bugger has a DMR. Well if you can't beat 'em, join 'em. I raid with a DMR these days, spend ages scoping out the area and nail anyone I happen to see about, as you can imagine this is pretty successful, but this is Dayz, got myself killed last night by slipping off a cliff trying to take a shortcut.C'est la vie. socom77 36 Posted July 16, 2012 same thing happened to me. i was gonna be a friendly player when i started out, but getting gunned down without a word by the first player i met changed that idea. then soon after that, getting shot at by a sniper when i was stranded by zombies in a deer stand who i ended up killing. the only people i've met who haven't tried to kill me have been fresh spawns, except for one guy i met today. looting the firestation in elektro, all i had was an axe and he ran in when i was about to leave. i didn't have anything to lose, and all he had was a makarov, so i called out friendly and he kept his gun pointed at me as he went toward the stairs. i stood still so he didn't think i was going to try anything and when he hit the stairs we parted ways.long story short, only trust people you know irl or from steam/skype/clans. joemiken 16 Posted July 16, 2012 I give myself 3 options when encountering survivors.A.) Unarmed - Don't kill. Probably don't have anything I need anyway.B.) Armed w/ melee. Don't shoot on site, but any aggressive action = shootC.) Armed w/ firearm. Kill on sight no questions asked. When it comes down to it, you basically have a split second to make this decision. I've shot people before that had a crowbar or hatchet that were probably friendly, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. When the shoe's on the other foot and I only have a melee weapon, I try to avoid them or stop dead in my tracks. I'll usually salute or something humorous to see what they do. I've been spared more times than not by doing this. Most people don't want to waste the ammo or attract attention just for a bandage and some painkillers. oifriendlyfire 46 Posted July 16, 2012 Ha, I love this thread, I'm nearly the same way now. I played on less populated servers until that became easy, no murders, no pvp deaths. Once i got my DayZ wings, I began playing on 45+ servers, like Dallas 44, which is an awesome server! PvP is nuts there. So, being the noob I was, I'm running along with a hatchet and a makarov, and a guy is running from zeds on the outskirts of elektro, so, being the good christian man that I am...sometimes...I lend an assist. Pick off his zombie problem and caps out a conversation. We take cover, and I give the guy my Makarov, and equip my mad hatchet, and begin to head the other way. I really didnt want to team up. The guy shot me in the back of the head. With my makarov.burnt.lesson learned.I still lend a hand, but, i dont remove my sightpost from players. For the record, I now run with a team of about 12, weve all met on dayz except 3 of us from the real world, and we do very well togethor. Not everyone is a threat...all the time.
qwazew 0 Posted July 16, 2012 (edited) And I had another life nearly end when another "friendly" found an axe while we were looting the Elektro Docks. He chased me halfway to Cherno. That is hilarious when not happening to me :) Edited July 16, 2012 by qwazew
louist 163 Posted July 16, 2012 Berezino seems to be a nightmare these days on most servers, the military camp is over-looked by some residential buildings so every bugger has a DMR. It was the first time I've been there, and the first time I've been to the hospital and larger residential buildings. Was completely empty, the military camp, aparments, supermarket, and hospital were all fully loaded. I also encountered a glitched out hopper zombie who spotted me across a field while I was prone, and taking him down with the AKM drew another dozen... Had anyone been watching, I probably would have been dead. Oh well, I guess I was lucky.

DoshDosh 62 Posted July 16, 2012 If you want to be the "hero" and actively seek bandits over survivors, your best bet is to figure out where the popular bandit sniper locations are (outskirts of stary sabor near the tents, elektro's outskirts, balota airfield, cherno outskirts, etc.) and camp near them. When you see a bandit sniper come in and start aiming at random survivors, you know you've made bank; most of them won't bother checking around once they've gotten into the groove of picking off city dwellers, and sometimes they carry high-end gear. If you get a good shot and take them down in one hit, they won't have the chance to ALT-F4.
Moxyz1 (DayZ) 10 Posted July 27, 2012 if everyone shoots on sight then this Mod will turn into BF/ COD with zombies and an eat/drink mechanic tacked on. And these people would of ruined the mod IMO ,, flame on.
