Melee or rifle?

Hey guys!

I am fairly new to the game and I have run into a problem. I know the title of the post makes me sound like an idiot but hear me out.

When I am sneaking around town I looking for surplies I kinda often agroes a Zed. Be it because I screw up (It almost always is :P ) or be it because a Zed just spawns in my face I will have to deal with him. Now, if I am in the middle of a town and I shot the bastard every Zed in town will be running at me but if I don¨t shot him he will, of course, eat me...

So my question is, what do you guys do when you pull a zombie in a crowded place? Shot him and run? Or do you gun down the whole town? :P

It seems like I am the only one with this problem so I must be doing something wrong!

You need help learning the ropes of dayz? if so add me on skype: lewis.morley7 and i usually shoot then with a quieter weapon

You enter a building and let them come in

Shoot them there

Also, get guns ASAP, melee hurts (literally)

I run to a enter-able building so they have to slowly walk in and I just pick them off.

Thank you for the offer, but we are a few friends getting the hang of it...I think some of the charm of the game lies in the whole "dying because you acted like an idiot" part of the game :)

Try a pistol for small town raid when it's likely that there's no players around, they're audible to around 50-60 meters

Run for the field, back run and shoot them in the face

Zig-Zag up a steep hill, they will have to walk

Lose them by breaking Line of Sight with buildings or hop over fences, then break LoS

Run into a (large) building and pick them one by one

Meelee, but prepare to have cooked meat and morphine and bandages... :P

Try and locate a 2 exit building. Lead them in - sneak out the other door and break line of sight. Xmas trees work well also for breaking LoS. Avoid zed more - crawl or crouch walk. Dont run across roads.
