{TNT}Malloy 1 Posted May 19, 2012 I don't think this has been discussed yet, or needs to, but the last few times I played I rarely came across bad weather. I know in other game modes I've encountered overcast, foggy, rainy, and even snow flurries. I see fog commonly in dayZ but rain doesn't come often, and flurries. I thought it would be cool to discuss a more variable weather system? Rain really adds to the zombie feel. More lightning storms too? Just a thought I came across, discuss? Leechman 8 Posted May 19, 2012 Both rain and lightning storms exist in the game.Much like real life, they don't occur every 2 hours.
Aryaa 5 Posted May 19, 2012 Leechman, no instead we have fog and rain 80% of the time.
Leechman 8 Posted May 19, 2012 iirc the prevalence of fog is to hide a reduced draw distance that helps with server loads.Who's to say that this part of Russia wouldn't suffer from Chronic Fog Syndrome irl? :P
{TNT}Malloy 1 Posted May 19, 2012 Flurries no? It's supposedly somewhere in Russia, why no snow or accumulation?
Leechman 8 Posted May 19, 2012 Could be summer?I can't imagine adding snow as a dynamic weather effect would be easy.
SwissArmy (DayZ) 5 Posted May 19, 2012 The weather dynamics of Arma II are fine for spring, summer and fall. There isn't a satisfactory system yet for dealing with snow accumulation. The map itself needs a 'snowed over' version. An example is the Thirsk Island map mod for Arma II. Two versions exist; one without and one with snow.
