Starting gear

Hello, just got the game and like the atmosphere and am learning as much as i can about the game,one thing i cant figure out is if you start with a gun or have to find one. I see video's were they spawn with a pistol but i dont spawn with anything but bandages,pain killers,a bad and flash light. Any helpful tips would be great

The older versions did spawn you with a gun, but thats been removed, your best bet is to find food and water then head into a built up area and find a weapon. but watch out for other players ;)

edit* : There are also a load of 3rd party maps which will help you with spawn locations, i enjoy using them but at first i wouldnt recomend as it takes some of the wonder and intrigue out of the game because you know what your looking for . but if your not assed heres one http://dayzdb.com/map#3.105.073
