Startup Time?

So I was wondering what the startup time when joining a DayZ server is? My brother is new and all it has been saying for 15 minutes or so is 'Wait for Host'.' Thank you for whoever can help me.

Shouldn't take more than 5 minutes, if it does, find a new server.

If you're stuck waiting for a host, find another server. Otherwise, slow loading times are to be expected.

Just seems random to me, sometimes fast loads and sometimes slow loads even on the same servers. Was stuck at waiting for host on a server earlier, left to do some stuff around the house and when I came back about 10-15 mins later I was in.
