Alternate Bandit Suggestion

Recommended Posts

Been lurking, but registered to offer an alternate suggestion on bandits since it is being removed. Keep in mind, I have no idea if this is possible with the game engine. I'll keep it short.

Blood On Hands(PVP) - Blood will appear on the character's hands and/or body. Will be called BOH from now on.

- If you damage another player or attempt to shoot them (reticle on target and fire) you will receive BOH if the target player is NOT in BOH.

- The BOH status will persist for a specified duration (maybe 1 hour?) or until player dies. (It is perma death so your conscience should be clear no?)

- You can cleanse a stack of this status using water from a canteen. (May want to limit via timer, etc to prevent excessive cleansing/killing)

- BOH can accumulate stacks depending on # of players killed during current life. All stacks wipe upon death. Each stack tacks on additional time for BOH to cleanse.

I thought this type of system would offer a more realistic approach while enabling you to still be a "bandit", but not forcing you to be one forever. At the same time offers some sort of method to determine a persons hostile demeanor yet offering hostile players methods on removing their "bandit" tag.

Thoughts?

It's really just a variation on the already broken bandit system. Visual queues don't work. The fact is, it's too hard for the game to tell the difference between a griefer, a player who kills from need, and a player who kills in self defence.

I propose an alternative system. Get a piece of paper and a pen, and keep it next to you when you play. When someone kills you, or someone else, or uses VoIP in a public channel, write their name down. If you see them, kill them.
