wildstars 5 Posted July 15, 2012 Why would I reference the books if I had not read them? In the Day by Day books, the non-radioactive zombies could be snuck around and outsmarted. In my experience (and the various instructional online videos I have watched) sneaking is not an effective tactic in DayZ. And the zombies in DayZ will open doors, climb ladders, etc. In Day by Day, you had a chance to survive by climbing up something (provided there are not any irradiated infected around), and waiting for the herd to get distracted and leave. wildstars 5 Posted July 15, 2012 I don't mind the travel. My logic around having a starting gun with very limited ammo (2-3 rounds) is:1) It gives you another option if you accidentally aggro a single zombie. As it stands now, if you get a zombie on your tail, you run until you find a large building with a clear entrance and exit, and lead the zombie into it. I find that to be boring and the zombie indoor speed limit breaks the immersion.2) It would make venturing into houses to scavange more viable. As it is now, anything without a clear entrance and exit is a death trap.3) It would add some balance to the pvp element.

quatre 7 Posted July 15, 2012 Guns are easy to find , for example yesterday I found 1 M1911 (lots of ammo) revolver etc , 1x M4A1 or A2 CCO , 2x AK KOBRA , more than 5x AKM with lots of ammo , 2x M16 AIM , 3 x FN FAL , 2x M4A2 ,1x DMR , and 1 or 2 more but didn't remember the name. Only in 1 day...
Ssgt_Perez 35 Posted July 15, 2012 Having to run everywhere in this game has made me appreciate the in-game vehicles more than any other game. The first time I started an engine in DayZ I felt more excited than the first time I drove a car in real life. Sad as that sounds.
jedra 4 Posted July 15, 2012 The OP does have a point in a way. If you are new to the game then it seems hard - because it is hard.Anyway, some advice. Since the latest update it is possible to prone-crawl around most Infected as long as you don't get too close and stay out of line of sight (say 2 - 3 yards). Yes, it is slow and yes it can take a while to find a weapon if you are on your own - but it is possible. If you are very new, choose a server that has 3rd person enabled as it's much easier to navigate around when prone in 3rd person view. Once you get used to this, you will spend very little time running. Sometimes you will aggro an infected by mistake (usually by crawling right into one!) and then it's often better to run than use up ammo and/or risk aggroing the whole town/city.If you are being chased then run into a building (like a barn) as the infected cannot run indoors - if you have a weapon it makes it easier to pick them off. If you don't have a weapon, wait for them to walk a good way into the building and then leg it out (they have to walk out!) - you should be able to get enough of a distance to break line of sight. In the beginning you used to start with a gun, now I prefer that you are not armed. I would like to see them try with giving you a big stick or something that is good for a couple of strikes - just to help out those who are finding it tough in the beginning. It would be no good against other players but it may be just enough to get you by until you find another weapon.
zyfer.nyholm@gmail.com 131 Posted July 15, 2012 your doing it wrong. thats all i can say, yes you have to run, thats the great part, where you can also get lost in some big woods and stuff, and tbh, it takes less than 10 minutes to find a fun after death/at the start, so i dont see the problem? when you got the gun you gtfo north, and get better loot but a higher possibility of dying, jeez i ran for like 2-3 hours yesterday and died, you dont see me complaining. Zexis 127 Posted July 15, 2012 After 5 freaking days you still havent realised this is alpha. My god I hate posts like these. He is complaining about a core aspect of the game that in all probability never change. While I disagree with his sentiment - give it more time, OP! - alpha has nothing to do with this. disorder 344 Posted July 15, 2012 If only all this running translated into real exercise. I would be buff and not have a totally fat arse.
guyb790 6 Posted July 15, 2012 I don't think alpha is an excuse anymore, buhaha. But, meh. If anyone has any idea how to improve this (except from a gun that will cause serious deathmatch and no-challange in-game) feel free to post it over Suggestions forum. matt.gilmurray@gmail.com 46 Posted July 15, 2012 This is the most unoriginal statement made about DayZ; can we get a little more creative with our criticism?
