Food spawn rates

I know food and drink are suppose to be scarce but the spawn/drop rate is a little low especially in smaller towns (I have avoided chen and elek because I'm looking to survive not pvp). Friend and I played about 4 hours yesterday and averaged maybe one food item and two drinks per hour. This just seems low. Other's thoughts?

In my opinion they're fine.

You can just find animals and cook them for food and fill canteen from ponds if you are trying to stay away from major cities.

Food is mostly everywhere, don't worry soon enough you'll notice the same and want a drop in the rates :P

For that you first need a knife, a hatchet and a box of matches. I've never found any matches yet!

By the time your food/water bar is flashing and you have not found those, you're either not looking hard enough or just really unlucky.

I think the spawn rates are fine. Although I could really do with a box of matches, I've never found one, ever. I'm starting to think it's a myth.

the first week or so I played DayZ I thought matches were a myth myself.....now 1 out of 3 buildings I go in I find matches...

Things you need to survive endlessly without going into towns:

1)A hunting knife

2)A box of matches

3)A hatchet

4)A water bottle

Also, civillian zombies (not the industrial mechanic zombies) drop food/drinks and abndages, and even makarov mags
