hello,

i started with dayz 3 days ago, after losing my first 7 chars though a dc , I am now in my first "city".

It's hilarious difficult to survive without any defense mechanism. I think the first city that I have found has around 30 houses. I checked nearly 80%, but all houses were locked :(.

Here are around 50 - 60 zombies nearly impossible to work around.

Any advises that you can give me ?

PS: I went directly to north. the village/city has a really big church, maybe someone knows where I am ? :D

You need to learn which building models are enter-able and which are not. 80% of buildings you cannot enter.

Once you know what buildings are good and what spawns where it is very easy.

easiest way to tell from a distance is windows. if you can go into the building the windows will be broken and see-through, if not theyll be solid and tinted

The problem your having is going into a zombie infested area and not knowing what buildings have loot this was also a problem i had you learn as you go but for not this should help you out a ton

and for what town your in i have no clue just check the bottom right of your screen when you relog you could of spawned on the east coast and gone west for all i know hopefully this helps you out i know i helped me

My char is really thirstly (red) how long can I survive ?

Maybe anyone is in the same area and want to team up :) ?

Every coloured dot on that map means there can be something found.

If you become too hungry or thirsty then your blood will begin to drain at a rate of 20 units per second. This will continue to the point at which you die.

The HUD will provide a flashing indicatior if you are dying of hunger or thirst

as others have stated, look at the windows on buildings, eventually you will be able to just look at the building model and know if its loot-able or not

when you first spawn either A. be sneaky and hope you find a weapon or B. mad dash through the closest town and rn through a building looking for a weapon

Best bet is to find a Hatchet, those things one shot zombies, just kinda hard to use. (well for me atleast >_>)

play more, explore and don't get angry when you die. you will get better and better and the game will reward you for perservering :)

thats the most satisfying way to play. don't read tips, don't take advice, just play as much as you can.
