Query Into Setting up Server

Hey Everyone,

I'm curious into the idea of setting up a server. How should I possibly go about this? Can I procure a dedicated server from a provider and use that? I lack the resources to set up a server in my home sadly. If I can use a dedicated server I procure does anyone have any recommendations?(I don't want to break my bank, just want a server my friends and I can be familiar with as well as wanting to help relieve the server lack.) I found NFOservers to be the cheapest.

^This is what I was looking at. What level would be necessary to run a server and is NFO any good as well?

I've read that..I assume a dedicated server will work then. I am more interested in recommendations and what providers(if any) other people use.
