Attention Bandit Groups - Sanctioned Firefight

Recommended Posts

I copied my post from the Survivor HQ, as it was also appropriate to post here. Mods, I hope this is okay.

=HA= is interested in setting up a sanctioned firefight. What I mean by this is we plan on getting most of our members in a single server (our own server if the devs would email me back :P). This should number between 16 and 20ish. We're interested in giving a general area for a serverwide firefight, =HA= vs. whoever else shows up, mostly for video purposes. Anyone interested feel free to post here or PM me. We are looking to do this some time tonight. (3-4 hours from now).

Uh. Number one, please make sense.

Number two, we are a bandit Clan.... looking for a firefight with other bandits and survivors alike. Where do you suggest I post this, Oh Mighty Enforcer of Rules?

Dont even bother with these guys, they'll find where you and your team are positioned, have a member disconnect, go to another server, and reconnect behind you and shoot you. Cheaters, the lot of 'em.

It really sucks that people heard Legion say those things, and started to believe them. We all see what happened to Legion...

We don't cheat, or abuse game mechanics in any way. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. If you have a problem with an =HA= member, bring it to my attention immediately. (Via this forum, so it's public.) With the proper proof, they will be dealt with. Not only by myself and the rest of =HA=, but also be known to the DayZ Dev team and the public as a cheater.

How-fascinating-please-tell-me-more....jpg

You dislike someone?

Please tell me how awful they are by default.

For those of you not aware: By the time someone were to logout, deal with Requesting, move, log back in, and shoot...well only an idiot would lay still that long.

This is almost laughable, setting up a time/place/area to have a fire fight....... you've clearly missed the point of this mod.

While I understand the appeal of two teams duking it out in this manner...why is this taking place as part of DayZ and not ARMA 2 PvP for which the latter would be faaaaar more appropriate?

I dunno if it's just me, but I thought the whole point of DayZ was to live out an immersive, fantastical experience set aside from the typical 'kills, scores and unlocks' atmosphere of other First-Person Shooters out there? It seems totally backwards to me that people are now starting to bring those mechanics into this mod - what's the point when that experience already exists elsewhere?!

The only logical explanation (in my head) is that the character is persistent and there's the whole 'risk loss' factor hanging over your head. On the flipside, I'm wagering the only reason you're so comfortable with challenging other clans is because you've already got the gear you're after.

Hey, I'm not saying you're not allowed to challenge other clans here. Whatever works for you. I just don't understand why this has to occur in the DayZ universe where the whole intention is for conflict and competition to break out naturally, and not in the standard ARMA 2 PvP where people have organising these kind of sanctioned firefights for years!

Trans-dimensional combat is part of this mod.

IF you can do it in a timely fashion it is fantastic but I wuold bet that 99% f the time you try it it will fail.

I love this idea !

Yes, it is just like ARMA PvP but totally different in terms of wounds and weapons.

If there is some kind of open sign up for this, then sign me up.

Is it so far fetched to believe that in this setting two factions would openly go to war over a set area or resource? I think not.

Also... with a set time and place, there are bound to be people who watch from the safety of the trees, and those who try to interfere and pop shots from far away. That was kinda the whole point of this thread... I wanted to set a time and place, that's all. Teams could approach and set up however. Also, the Zeds definitely add another factor into the fight. The firefight would still end up being absolutely spontaneous and make for an amazing video.

@Blitzy - I play for the exact same reason you do, our characters just have different intentions. Since I happen to roll with a group of over ten at all times, would it not be natural for us to thrive on our numbers and military force?

I operate with a similar sized group, and we've faced our fair share of group-on-group warfare. The most recent skirmish occurred when another group flew over our camp looking for helicopters, and found ours. They shined their spotlight over our parked chopper and our camp, while we hid in the nearby trees.

We made sure their two door gunners never escaped alive.

The ensuing conflict lasted several consecutive nights, with both groups frantically searching for the other. We're sabotaging camps and vehicles, we're plotting ambush points and we're combing the air radar for signs of the other's main base. It only ended when both groups lost their choppers after our pilots were all randomly kicked by BattleEye. Fun times!

Anyway. My point is, I'm not arguing against group warfare in this mod. I can say from experience that it's incredibly fun and immersive, particularly because both groups were fighting for what they believe in - the strength and protection of their group. The conflict we experienced had occured so naturally, we were completely oblivious to the fact we were all fellow survivors with no scripted team alignment. Nothing about the conflict was forced or organised; we just both knew the other group was an immediate threat that needed to be countered immediately.

@Flossy: I was just completely confused at the prospect of organising these warfare sessions externally. To me, it feels just like metagaming in roleplay - it just doesn't quite fit with the natural, immersive flow of the experience as a whole. Particularly, I guess, because I've actually had the chance to savour some naturally occuring group conflict in DayZ.

But hey, to each their own. If you feel the need to organise a time/date/location/server outside of the game itself to enjoy group warfare in this mod, who am I to stop you? I'm just another player. I can't tell you how to play this game. I hope it all works out well for you.

All I'm saying is, I personally don't feel it's in the 'true' spirit of DayZ, and I would argue that letting conflict naturally create itself (IMO) would produce the more satisfying experience.

@Blitzy I agree with you 100% bro, and I wish that it could happen that way. But I think that the kind of experience you had is very rare with the servers the way they are now. Most large groups own their own servers, and play there. Some servers may have several large groups of regulars that are able to maintain bases and vehicles, but on our server it has yet to happen.
