Reverted to old character?

Hey folks.

I died earlier, and rstarted a new character. Things were going well, I had some luck with barns a a supermarket, where I found lots of food and drink, an axe, and an enfield. Three hours into this character, the game minimized and every time I switch back to the game, it minimizes again. So I closed the game through task manager, and rejoin the server I was playing.

Here's where things get wierd. Upon rejoining, I find myself in a totally different area, extremely low on blood and with entirely different gear. I've reverted back to my previous life! What can I do to fix this? Anything?
