No gun for new players

In the older versions you started with a pistol and 5 mags. But to add realism they took that away. Im bummed too, I'm new and it's tough

It is not hard to find a weapon and ammo if you know where to look, and you need to be careful and extra cautious till you find a gun as that is why you are probably dying so fast. Go for the different kinds of barns, airfield hangers and control towers, and firestations are good key places to check.

Yep, got that....it wont stop the sick though....also found an axe but i guess it was just for decoration since i could not pick it up

When I first starting playing I kept dying of starvation or thirst with no weapon, but a month later I can have a full kit in 30min to an hour depending on spawn location.

That includes:

Primary rifle

Sidearm

Upgraded Backpack

food/soda

medicine

Once you get used to the map and recognize what buildings are interactable acquiring basic gear is simple.

If you can't get the item by pressing "G" try getting it by scrolling the middle mouse button and selecting the proper option in the left side of the screen, like "Take Hatchet".

half hour max to get firearm if i'm not taken out by players or glitches before that.

advice: check windows of houses from a distance before you get close to them or try to enter them. if you can enter them, the windows will be transparent. try to remember what these buildings look like for the future. refine your zombie ditching techniques, it's often more useful to ditch them than shoot them. have patience, once you learn what building types are and aren't enterable, it'll get easier. shit, you could even spend a night just running around suicidally and admiring and learning architecture of enterable buildings.

This is a great community and I adore the people who have put the time in to figure it out...I was one of you at one time. Now i have children and a wife that needs me to sex her sometimes. So my game time is not unlimited. I will pop in from time to check dev but right now I cant waste all my game time as zombie fodder.

No doubt this is an awesome idea for a game...and when its done cooking it will make millions. But right now imma go exact some revenge on zombies via black ops or even zombie island idk...maybe ill just go look at porn.

Atleast an axe on the start, or something like it that it'll be easy to find, really. But, you know, real life I don't think you'll come across a coast finding yourself with a full armory of 10 shotguns, 5 automatic rifles and 2 snipers.

My tactic is to go right for the big stuff.Since I just spawned I find it to be low risk High reward.Since my favorite Series ever is metal Gear solid, sneaking into one of the big cities is easy enough. Then i just hit up the churches and pubs til I find what I'm looking for then sneak out. I try to be nice to any person I see and cause no problems, if anyone else is looting a spot or comes to loot a spot i'll just say friendly and leave usually telling them"I'll be on my way, I left some for you" or "You can have the rest" this only didn't work one time when some jack ass decided to shoot me in the back ,even after i expressed I was friendly and started to walk away. Hope he Really enjoyed his soda the ass.

New players hit big towns to start. Like Barnes101 said you just spawned who cares if you die with nothing. Be cautious in the cities. Laying down and crawling is the best way to avoid Zeds and players. Be paranoid and I'm sure you will get the hang of it. Spawning everyone with a gun would be ridiculous. Anyone can gather a kamikaze group and ruin plenty of people's day. Earning/finding a gun seems fine to me.

When I respawn it takes me normally less then 15 minutes to find basic gear, including a weapon...
