Tadbears 0 Posted July 14, 2012 I've seen this whilst looking at the map every now and again, anyone know what it is and if it's another player?

Fraggle (DayZ) 15720 Posted July 14, 2012 I had that too. In the original Arma it was for marking players that had been sighted. Not sure if it works like that here or if it's just a bit of a bug from the original engine.

idunc 62 Posted July 14, 2012 Word of advice: Do not play on these servers.Yeah, why? Do you say this because other players can track you too? How do we know by looking at the server selection screen whether or not the server allows these types of map markers?

Just something you can see when you get on the server.
Sephka (DayZ) 51 Posted July 14, 2012 Yeah, the first thing I check every time I join a server is my map and my buddies. If I see a tag over my buddies or I see a blue dot where I am on the map, I immediately leave and find another server.Tags make figuring out distances for snipers trivial as hell, making range finders pointless.Dots on the map are annoying because, while it's somewhat silly to be constantly checking your map while moving, you never know when someone will see you on the map because you fired 300M away or they "saw" you running through a field but didn't actually see you.
