"Squad" and "Team" support for parties

Recommended Posts

There should be a system in place where if your playing with friends or meet a random person and join with them you should have the option to join their squad. This would cut back on "friendly" fire between friends playing together. for example:

Joe and I are playing together and finally come face to face. When we come close enough (say within 25 meters) an action would be added to both of us named "Offer to join." In this case I see him first and I use the action "Offer to join." Joe get a hint "(player x) wants to join your party" and deletes the action "Offer to join" for him and replaces it as "Accept (player x) into your party as leader" and "Accept (player x) into your party" the first option would obviously make me the "squad leader" where Joe would join my "squad." The second action "Accept (player x) into your party if it were chosen would send me a hint "(player y) will allow you to join his party if you follow his orders" giving me two more actions "Accept terms" and "Decline terms." In the first action would put me in Joe's "squad" and the second would end the script and we would not be in the same "squad." I'm very sure this would be fairly simple to implement however having the "squads" persist would be more difficult.

You can even go as far as disallowing radios communication and add handheld radios as loot. So if the whole squad has radios the whole squad can communicate with each other within a certain distance. Radio antennas and radio sets can also be added as loot if teams are formed.

Teams

If two squad leaders meet each other they can also be given the actions "Offer to merge squads" and "Offer to create a team" where the procedure would be identical to the above squad scenario with one distinction. Joining as a team would allow the two squads to communicate on "team radio" if they all had or the squad leaders had handheld radios. If they were too far they would require a radio set and radio antenna. This in turn would allow large groups of people to join forces. Since a radio antenna would be stationary adding a device that would prohibit zombies from spawning inside an area would be necessarily. Say, you can add flagpoles as loot (rare? loot) that would signify a "camp" (teams"). There camps would disallow zombies from spawning but would also be viewed as agro from zombies forcing these players to fortify their camp. Loot would no longer respawn inside the camp area either. This would give the feel of people rebuilding society. Teams would also be branded with XML armbands to avoid friendly fire.
