Private servers no allowed?

Recommended Posts

Hi

I read somewhere it wasn't allowed to launch a private server to play alone with your own friends/clan. But a friend of mine tells me I'm wrong, because there are ~50 private servs online : http://image.noelsha...rivateservs.png

Anyway that's cheating, escaping death by fleeing conflict with other players. So my question is : can we report them somewhere, and what can the game admins do? Remove them from the servers list? Ban their account from DayZ?

Also, is it possible that an admin gives himself items and weapons on his server, and then go on a regular server and play with this stuff? Or are some admin tools "locked" somehow?

All of the private servers are unable to connect to the public hive.

Rocket and the DayZ team have no control over them but since they are not able to connect to the public hive, any progress made on that server does not carry over to public servers.

what has it got to do with you, dayz or anyone else?

They are not connected to the database you play the "official hive" on.

Who cares.

They are modding a mod to play it on their own network and shit?

Before complaining on a forum that doesn't care, research the subject you are talking about, you sound like an idiot.

Woah, yeah I don't know everything about DayZ, sorry.

Everything's fine if they aren't connected to the hive then, thanks for the reply.

I guess that since millions of people download pirated video games, it must be okay. Is that how things work in your world? Next time I get pulled over, I'm gonna say "It's okay officer, everyone speeds, so it isn't really illegal". Edited by WhiteTigerShiro

No, but in my world I can go down to the local car dealership, purchase a car, drive it home and perform any adjustments, maintenance and/or modifications to it whether it voids the warranty or not. Unless DayZ or Arma 2 was leased to all of us rather than sold, I believe any one whom has purchased the game should be allowed to do with it and make adjustments and additional modifications of their own. After all, DayZ it's self is a mod, would it not be hypocritical to deny continued modifications and private servers?

On a more transparent level:

Many private servers require BattlEye authentication; which means users require a legit copy of Arma II or OA(Otherwise, servers are flooded with constant hacks and who wants to play with that any ways). Among those which do not require BattlEye authentication a majority of them are still ran and played on by users whom have purchased Arma II.

I'm sure there are private servers which disable BattlEye and allow hackers + illegal copies; but that is definitely the minority and you should not discourage or forget about all the hard work put into private servers and additional modifications to increase the user experience, server stability and administrative assistance options.

"No, private servers aren't allowed.

...

So ask yourself, do you think you are really helping the project? Branching it right now? Is that what this needs? Why did you even do it? To make things better for a few people? This is a techdemo/proof of concept to, oh I don't know, do something really really special."

Since the ability to play DayZ offline was removed I imagine most of the hackers are testing their craft on these private servers.

Ridiculous logic, using this reasoning would also justify hacking the game and using exploits
