Just got this game a few days ago...

...And I'm very surprised at how little hostile contact I've gotten with other players. I'm sitting in a forest with an M4A3 CCO, tons of ammo, and tons of supplies with 50+ zombie kills and 0 murders. And it's not like I didn't go into any major cities. I went to Chenarus twice and looted the apartments. I went to the Balota airstrip several times. Each time I checked the comms tower for snipers, and there never was one. I went to Stary Sobor and looted all of the military tents no problem. In all of these instances, I do check for snipers and stuff. I'm just surprised that I haven't yet died to anybody besides zombies. I even met a few friendlies in some town I can't pronounce. Maybe it's just me, but this game doesn't seem as bandit-infested as people say.

So am I just getting lucky, or is this normal?

Also, what are the orange dots on the map? I've been looking on google, but I can't find the answer.

Oh I'm sure they'll come. Just join more populated servers. Also some servers let you see other players/zombies on the map. I believe orange is zombies. Blue are players.
