Have a question if this was wrong

Recommended Posts

I was north of electro near a barn (new it was coming up) instead of running threw the front door via the road i took to the forest to check for zombies, I noticed that there was nothing dident see a single zombie, (now i consider myself a survivor not a bandit, don't like killing ppl and try to stay clear of them) i moved to the hedge line and seen the player prone with his weapon aimed into the barn, i had not heard any shots before, or nothing on the chat about friendly or "what the hell man" it looked like he was just camping the barn waiting for someone who just geared up from electro to take there stuff. so i decided to aim in and kill him (i have video of this if anybody is interested in what im talking about) now this was my first player kill, being as i consider myself a survivor, i did not think anything wrong with it, was wondering what you guys think, should i have just moved on, or did i do the right thing?

It's these on the spot decisions that make DayZ fekkin great. Who know's maybe you just killed an innocent eight year old, maybe he was a bandit that deserved it.

well i dont really think you did anything wrong because it was a logical desicion to ensure your own safety but maybe next time you could try getting some form of communication going while keeping him undershot so that when he is a bandit you can shoot him but when he isnt, well you dont shoot him

i thought about that but was afraid he would just stab me in the back (happened to me once before, i spawned next to some guy, we moved into cherno together, he picked up and ax and took me out.... bastard (yes i had a gun)

I think you did the right thing. I would appear that he was clearly waiting for a victim. As such, he deserves to become a victim himself. I usually also try to avoid other players because I've been killed a few times now as a result of close encounters with the bandit kind. Just today I was headed to a building to look for supplies when I noticed the body of a dead survivor lying inside. I wasn't sure if he was killed by zombies or if someone was inside waiting to ambush me. I decided to just move along and find loot elsewhere.
