How do I use the side channel, global etc.

Recommended Posts

I know this is probably discussed a lot, but can someone give me a GOOD explanation on how this works? Almost all if not all servers I joined had no side channel and global and stuff. How do I know if the server has it and how do I use it if others are using it and it gives me no option to. (people use it in the server while I can't)

The Side Channel and Group channel are disabled nowadays. You can only communicate in Direct chat. Press "<" or ">" until you see global chat and then press "/" to type or " Caps lock" to use your microphone. It has a range of somewhere around 40 - 80 metres I think.

I know how to use everything, i just " . " and " , " to switch. I'm just wondering why they are disabled and how I might know if the server has them.

It's disabled on purpose because kiddies were ruining the global chat and spamming it with crap. I don't think any server has it now. You can always use TS, Mumble and so on if you wan't to talk globally.

I just wanted to use it to bait people to an area to kill them :P and to chat up with people so i'm not bored. Why no just disable mic for those channels? ..
