Reinstalling Arma2 and Dayz - without losing character

Sorry for the multi threads..

Following up from my previous thread earlier about six updater borking my dayz,

It appears its installed the new patch for arma 2 1.61.

Is it possible for me to reinstall arma2 without losing my character in dayz? I know they all log into a hive, but will my information and character be kept going if i reinstall on my machine?

Any advice would be great.

Yes, your character is attached to your cd key not the files on your computer.

Is that including steam based clients? As mine is bought via steam.

Again yes, you have a CD key in steam even though the game doesn't ask for it steam automatically puts the key into your registry upon launching the game for the first time.
