AKM Vs M16A2

Recommended Posts

You have a choice of either gun plus 3 mags.

Which one is better and why?

I choose the AKM due to zeroing and I like the iron sights more.

I would even pick a Lee Enfield over M16A2. Picked it up once, never picking it up again. The iron sights are god awful

M16a2, headshots at 300m, hit at 500m quite easily once you're familiar with it, the iron sights are the best ingame.

I'm pretty sure the damage amount on the crossbow here is wrong. It's shown as doing the same damage as the M16/M4s and AK-74s, but AFAIK it kills zombies with one shot every time, whereas the others do not.

i prefer the m16 because of its iron sight and its very controllable recoil

AKM for both zombies (1 bodyshot kill) + enemy players. The M16A2 is slightly better for longer ranges due to the iron sights, but their effective range both caps at about 400m, and honestly, for something around 400m I'd be looking for a rifle with an ACOG scope or something along that vein (although I really, really believe that the Lee-Enfield is the best PVP weapon aside from sniper rifles when used properly).

What ammo is more common? STANAG or AKM?

I've always seen more AKM magazines in the southern area and more STANAG mags in the northern area, but that might just be how my luck decided to play out.

i say m16 because of the long barrel, it feels like i have more recoil control and more acuracy at distance

M16A2...

Only because it's so familiar to me...

Same when it comes to M4's...

Depends on the situation, but usually I'd go with the AKM.

Whatever you have more experience with. Stats don't mean shit if you don't know where to aim your sights and at what distance.

AKM has a lot of kick. Its very accurate though. Got a kill from 500meters and I'm sure you can go longer with it, if the conditions are absolutely perfect.

Its one hit kill on the zombies, I don't know how many on the player though, might be a few hits, as I never hit anybody with just one shot.

Due to the kick full auto is very limited and to a close range. At 300 meters its tough to hit a moving target, its just easier to plink them in semi.

M16 is a bit more accurate than AKM. Its easier to to use in full auto and in a longer distance. 300 meters knealing in auto is pretty easy.

Front sight is pretty good to asses the distance to the target, as it has a lot of reference points compared to AKM. However since there is no zeroing, you have to compensate yourself. I personally don't like the sights on M16, but thats just me.

I personally prefer AKM as I'm used to it more now I like the sights, and at this point, I know how to judge a distance to the target with its sights, and therefore can effectively zero them out. It also seems the ammo for AKM is easier to find than to M16.

I would take the M16, so I can use STANAG rounds, with the expectation that I will find and M4 or something nice later.

Edit: You can also get SD STANAG rounds, which are a bonus for killing zombies (players can still hear the gun shots apparently).
