Gun Aiming

Recommended Posts

Hi !

1st -I saw in many videos of Day z and i saw that some players had some Aim on the screen to help you shooting, How can we turn it on?

2nd - When i use an AK-47 it says Zeroing on the Top Right Corner, what does that mean?

If by "they had some aim" you mean crosshairs? Some servers have crosshairs enabled and some don't. You would want to look for a server that says something like "CH:on" or "CH:1" to know if they enable crosshairs. Otherwise, most regular and recruit difficulty servers have these enabled.

If you mean they had some form of scope or aimdot on their weapon, that's a trait of the particular weapon they had. you just have to find one with a scope or aimdot.

To be brief, zeroing means that your sights have been adjusted to hit a target at that distance in meters. So if your zeroing is at 300, your sights are meant to aim at a target 300 meters away. If someone is farther, you would have to aim slightly higher in order to compensate for bullet drop. See this wiki article for a better and more indepth explanation http://en.wikipedia....eman's_rule

The zeroing of your weapon can usually be adjusted using the + and - buttoms on your numpad.

Ah, here may be a better link http://www.zombiesurvivalwiki.com/page/The+Concept+of+Zeroing+a+Rifle

It all depends on the server, If a server is veteran it ususaly has crosshairs turned off. Also, if you press 0 on the numpad, it will take you into an enhanced view.

I dont kown what the first thing is, about the zeroing when it says zeroing 200 it means when the thing you're aiming at is 200 meters away you can just put your crosshair on where you want to hit, if your zeroing is 200 and the target is 300 meters away you will have to aim high. you can change the zeroing by pressing "page up" and "page down".

Thanks for the specifics. I couldn't remember for some reason.

1- Aiming without right click needs to be set on the server side. In default "normal" mode, you have those green lines where you aim. In "veteran" mode, by default you will not have those green lines...

So, it's a server side control. You can try to find a server with CH=ON (CrossHair : the famous green lines to help for aim)

2 - The zeroing is used to set up a distance between you and the target (I think it's in "meter"), When you shoot far, you have to manually up the gun, with that it's not needed. Try to shoot in a wall in front of you with the lowest and the highest value (wall is at 20m to easily watch the impact), don't move and shoot : the bullet will go up with a big value in the zeroing...

Have fun;)

What confuses me is how the hell do people know how many meters something is away? Estimation? Shit, I'm clueless in that regard.

With enough game play, especially with experience in Arma 2, you can kind of "get a feel" for distance without a rangefinder. Otherwise, it is about estimation, trial, and error. Shot misses, adjust, shot misses, adjust, hit.

Shot misses, adjust, shot misses, adjust, hit.

That's why I love RPG-7V :P "around" the target is already a good feeling! lol
