A solution to the "bandit" problem

I think bandits are dicks, and I never have shot anyone unless they seemed aggressive towards me first.

But...I think the threat of other survivors is very important to the style of gameplay that is DayZ.

Without that threat the game would be way too easy and would feel too safe. After you've played for a while zombies are just a nuisance, not any real threat.

This is an apocalypse-survival simulation, and given the state of human nature today bandits, yes, even the dumb ones, will most likely be a HUGE part of a real apocalypse. Chernarus is not a giant, 225km2 dollhouse.

False. Players who adopt the KOS mentality and protected by the simple fact that if/when they eventually fuck with the wrong people and get themselves killed they just respawn, grab the first gun they find and get back to shooting people.

This is the real issue.

We don't need to turn off-friendly fire, we just need to make there be more repercussions for murdering people. Right now all you get is the bandit skin, which you can get rid of easily anyways.

Since when have bandits been an issue in this game? They are apart of the game. Bandits make this game.
